Engagement Sessions at Groton’s Haley Farm State Park

It’s nestled away between the Poquonock Bridge, Groton Long Point, and Noank sections of Groton. It’s huge, weighing in at about 250-plus acres of public land. It has multiple walking and biking trails that people enjoy year round. What is it? It’s Haley Farm State Park.

In this post, I’ll show you the magic of Haley Farm engagement sessions by highlighting a few that I’ve photographed. Undoubtedly, you’ll easily see why it’s one of the best locations for an engagement session in Connecticut.

Fall Haley Farm Engagement Session: Kayley and Sam

As a wedding photographer in Connecticut, booking awesome couples is really what it’s all about. But when those couples end up being your neighbors, that puts a cherry on top of the cake. Kayley and Sam booked me and it seemed like winning the lottery.

These two call southeastern CT home just like me. They actually chose Haley Farm for their engagement session without my even having to suggest it first. We went there for some peak Connecticut fall foliage and had a great time.

Because I know this area so well, I often ask my couples if they’d like to hit up more than one location during their engagement sessions with me. Kayley and Sam were up for this, so we explored the Greater Mystic area a little more after Haley Farm.

These two will be getting married at Maneeley’s in several months and I just can’t wait.

Winter Haley Farm Engagement Session: Tammie and David

One winter, Tammie and David chose me as their wedding photographer. When I asked where they’d like to have their engagement session, Haley Farm was high on their list.

Returning to this great location allowed me to try some new things photographically. Additionally, we took great advantage of some other spots within the park.

These two ended up tying the knot at Salem Herbfarm. The practice we had during their engagement session at Haley Park really paid off on their wedding day.

Another Fall Haley Farm Engagement Session: Steph and Matt

On a fall day in October of 2018, I had the pleasure of photographing Steph and Matt’s fall engagement session. Their chosen location was, of course, Groton, CT’s Haley Farm State Park.

In southeastern Connecticut, I have to say that fall has to be the absolute best time for an engagement session. Leaves may be a pain to clean up, but they make for some great color in photos. Steph and Matt brought along some props to try and add some flair. They did a great job of helping me dodge the bicyclists and runners on the trails, too.

For their wedding day, they ended up at the nearby Overlook at Geer Tree Farm. Fun fact: this one was my business’s official first wedding!

Haley Farm Is a Great Choice

Obviously, if getting outside in a calm area for your engagement session appeals to you, then Haley Farm State Park is a great choice. One of my other favorite things about this place is how it’s accessible year round. There are also no admission or parking fees.
