Pachaug Cottages Wedding | A Woodsy Celebration of Love

Lovers of the outdoors unite: Amy and Kevin had an awesome Pachaug Cottages wedding to celebrate tying the knot. Here’s how they made their dream wedding come true in the middle of the woods with all of their loved ones.

Their Engagement Session

To kick off their wedding planning journey, Amy and Kevin opted for an engagement session with me at Harkness Memorial State Park.

Harkness is one of my favorite engagement session locations, so I was excited to work with them there.

Lifelong residents of Connecticut, these two love to get outside. Their session at Harkness proved that: we took advantage of the grassy areas, spring flowers, and the beach.

And to make things even sweeter, there was actually a kite festival happing that day; a welcome surprise which added to the date-like atmosphere of their session.

Here are the vendors who worked together for Amy and Kevin’s wedding at Pachaug Cottages:

Their Pachaug Cottages Wedding Story

Amy and Kevin found out about me as a wedding photographer through Amy’s cousin (a past client of mine who got married jat Saint Clements Castle).

When we first spoke, Amy explained that she had known she wanted to get married at Pachaug Cottages for years, before it officially became a CT wedding venue. She and Kevin are high school sweethearts who used to visit the campground as kids.

Getting Ready

Their wedding started in a very interesting way: Amy’s mother and I met outside as I unloaded my gear.

She handed me a box containing “a surprise” for the bride and groom.

It turned out to be Simba and Nala dolls from The Lion King, one of the couple’s sentimental favorite movies.

Amy and Kevin exchanged private letters before their first look.

First Look and Portraits

Amy and Kevin’s first look was next; this took place on the Pachaug Cottages dock on Pachaug Pond.

Kevin was there first; I set him up at the edge of the dock looking off onto the waterl

Eventually, Amy walked up, tapped him, and they enjoyed the moment.

Shortly thereafter, we took some time to walk around the campground take some cinematic portraits.

Ceremony

As an outdoor-only wedding venue, Pachaug Cottages ceremonies take place on the green looking out at the pond.

Amy and Kevin’s ceremony was short and definitely sweet. The location was beautiful, overpowered by the woodsy greenery but balanced with water views and great sunlight.

Party Time

Probably the most fun part of their day, Amy and Kevin enjoyed a very laid-back cocktail hour and reception at Pachauge Cottages.

Guests enjoyed music, lawn games, Magic the Gathering (yes for real), and lots of dancing.
