Real Wedding at Aquila’s Nest Vineyards
Dianne and Robert. I came to their wedding through a referral from my friends at Evermore Imaging.
They’re from Connecticut; Aquila’s Nest is practically in their backyard. Calm, great senses of humor. About twelve guests or so and a bilingual ceremony conducted mostly in Spanish. Dinner at a restaurant after. Nothing included out of obligation, just love.
Robert showed up early, which gave me a chance to walk the property with him before Dianne arrived. We started at the bridge—I brought him out first, Dianne came up behind him, and when he turned, that was the frame. Long pea coat, her dress, the pond near them.

The ceremony ran about twenty minutes. At one point during her vows, Dianne addressed Robert by his last name and the whole pergola laughed. That detail tells you everything about them.
After dark, I convinced Dianne and Robert to take some night portraits with me. As I was maneuvering them toward the back of the igloo area, something darted through the brush between us (we were, after all, outside). I turned to Robert: “Was that a mouse?” He said yeah. We chuckled then moved on; they had a dinner with family to get to.
