There are two things that a lot of New Englanders love: apples and golf. Surprisingly, these two concepts have an indirect connection to wedding venues. Farm-to-table food and beautiful hills can be had on your day. Sound nice? Then a Lyman Orchards wedding might be a great bet for you.

This post contains images taken by me while working with my friend Rob Zajac Photography.

History of Lyman Orchards

The Lyman family purchased its first 40 or so acres of land in Middletown in 1741. Hundreds of years went by as this family business kept up with its farming operations, which focused on apple orchards.

Then, in 1969, the Lyman family opened their first golf course. The Lyman Homestead opened up for events in 1999, followed by the Lymans adding an education center to their golf offerings in 2012.

Venue Vibe and Features

Lyman Orchards is actually a sister venue to The Barns at Wesleyan Hills, located 10 minutes away. They are under the same CT Wedding Group ownership and share similar great catering.

As a wedding venue, Lyman Orchards consists of the following location options:

  • Apple Nine Pavilion: This is for golf-themed weddings and can handle about 70 people.
  • Apple Barrel Tent: With room for 100, this outdoor area also has volleyball courts nearby.
  • Golf Tent at Lyman Orchards Golf Course: This is the big tent, with room to seat a little under 300 people.
  • Lyman Homestead: This former residence can accommodate receptions of about 75 people.

As you’ll see in the gallery, larger Lyman Orchards wedding ceremonies can take place on the main golf course. The venue staff also allow you to take photos on the course.

Obviously, then, this venue is a great choice if you’re looking for a Middletown wedding with a country club / golf course aesthetic. There’s sort of a rustic twist: the trees in the apple orchard provide a nice touch.

This venue’s wedding season runs between May and October each year.
