RHODE ISLAND WEDDING VENUES

Excellent Rhode Island Wedding Venues

Despite being so small (much like Connecticut), Lil Rhody has no shortage of awesome wedding venues. This guide will help you narrow things down and find your perfect Rhode Island wedding venue.

If you have any questions or have any suggestions feel free to reach out to me. Furthermore, be sure to head over to my wedding planning resources for more helpful info when you’re done here. Lastly, be sure to see my list of the best Connecticut wedding venues if you’re still deciding.

Newport Wedding Venues

1. Newport Marriott

Perhaps the most convenient Newport wedding venue, the Marriott is downtown on the outskirts as you drive into town via the Claiborne Pell Bridge. The hotel is very tasteful in accommodating indoor weddings, but a quick walk outside puts you right at Bowen’s Wharf.

Newport Marriott

And you and your guests (up to 350–400 of them) will really appreciate not having to leave the venue when the party ends. To me, it’s really one of the best Rhode Island wedding venues.

2. Rosecliff Mansion

Perhaps surprisingly, Rosecliff is the only true Newport mansion wedding venue, accommodating everything from small to large celebrations. (Some of the other mansions do host smaller events, like rehearsal dinners.)

One of the more unique wedding venues in Rhode Island, Rosecliff is an old money mansion from the Gilded Age. While Connecticut’s The Society Room of Hartford is known for its Great Gatsby aesthetic, Rosecliff is where The Great Gatsby movie was actually filmed. Clearly, this venue is an icon not just in RI, but in all of New England.

With room for 160 guests, Rosecliff will have you swooning over its beauty.

3. Belle Mer

Located on Newport’s Goat Island, Belle Mer is a super versatile waterfront Newport wedding venue that can be configured in multiple ways to suit your preferences. On top of being absolutely beautiful, this venue also has convenient parking on site.

Interestingly enough, Belle Mer is a large wedding venue with multiple event spaces. The smallest, Island House Loft, can handle an intimate wedding of 30 people with a dancefloor. The largest setup is the Water Salon with the outdoor lawn, which can handle 500 guests with dancing. Step outside and get great views of the Newport Bridget and surrounding water.

One reviewer recalls how much they enjoyed attending a wedding at Belle Mer, saying, “We were here for the sunset and the windows and view to the west were absolutely beautiful. The venue itself is very accommodating and staff is very welcoming.”

4. Regatta Place

On the end of Goat Island is another wedding venue in Rhode Island located on the water, Newport’s Regatta Place. Accordingly, the true experience here is a fully-outdoor wedding day on the dock in Goat Island Marina. Accommodating 180 guests with great views of Newport Harbor, Regatta Place is the spot if a nautical wedding is what you’re looking for.

Couples love the service here. One notes, “They treated us as if our wedding day was just as important to them, as it was to us. Our wedding guests and vendors all rave about just how perfect the day was. You will not be disappointed if you choose Regatta!”

5. OceanCliff Hotel

If having a 10-acre Newport estate to yourselves and your guests on your wedding day sounds appealing, look no further than OceanCliff. Located at the southwest tip of town, this Newport wedding venue has showy, small castle vibes and plenty of privacy.

Inside, OceanCliff is among the more beautiful ballroom-style wedding venues in Rhode Island. The main venue building, with its 24 guest rooms, sits on 10 acres shared with a resort. Outside, you have spectacular views of Newport Harbor. There’s also a large deck for warm season celebrations outdoors.

Depending on the configuration, OceanCliff can host up to 230 guests. The ability to stay overnight on site makes things extra convenient.

6. Newport Vineyards

Perhaps an honorary Newport wedding venue, Newport Vineyards is actually located in Middletown next door. This can be viewed as a good thing: this venue is a little easier to access since it’s not in Newport proper. If you’re wine lovers, this place is perfect you and your wedding of up to 200 people.

5. Graduate Providence / Providence Biltmore

The bride and groom have their backs to the camera while they save to their guests during the cocktail hour of their Graduate Providence wedding day.

Known for their unique hotel interiors (there’s one in New Haven, CT), Graduate Hotels took over The Biltmore and renamed it Graduate Providence. Fortunately, the popular aesthetic remains (like the famous “Biltmore” sign on the roof). It has ballroom and outdoor courtyard setup options.

The venue can handle weddings as small as under 50 up to as many as 250 guests. Graduate Providence is a downtown mainstay and beautiful venue for city lovers.

6. Providence Public Library

Weddings at Providence Public Library are beautiful. There are four event spaces to choose from, ranging from 180 guests in the Ship Room down to 80 in the Rhode Island Room. Similar to some of Connecticut’s Branford House mansion venue, the library is state-owned and reasonably priced.

There are plenty of hotels nearby in Providence. One issue to be aware of is that Providence Library doesn’t have convenient parking. Accordingly, you’ll have to look into shuttle and/or valet service.
