If you live in Connecticut, youโre probably aware that craft beer is a popular theme and social industry in the state. Well, beer lovers get married, too. Hereโs some info about having a BADSONS brewery wedding day.
History of BADSONS Beer Co.
BADSONS Beer Co., also known as BAD SONS, is a brewery in Derby, Connecticut. It’s a full-blown, self-contained operation, complete with brewing and a taproom on site. While great for beer lovers, BADSONS is also perfect for your next event, even if you’re not specifically looking for a beer or wine wedding venue in CT.
The brewery opened in the summer of 2017. The founders are brothers Mark and Bill DaSilva. The name, BADSONS, is actually an acronym taking into account seven towns in the Lower Naugatuck Valley, where the founders grew up: Beacon Falls, Ansonia, Derby, Seymour, Oxford, Naugatuck, and Shelton.
Venue Vibe and Features
The BAD SONS Beer Company motto is “Badass Beer for Goodass People.” Undoubtedly, this unapologetic approach to beer (and fun) is what couples love about having their weddings here. Here are some more details:
Tasting Room
This is the main front, open to the public seven days per week. It’s a happening spot, complete with a patio and outdoor games when the weather allows. (Your wedding at BADSONS brewery won’t really utilize this space.)
As far as the beer goes, BAD SONS Beer Company specializes in IPAs. They have many selections in cans and on tap, even getting into canned cocktails as well.
BADSONS Barrel Room
The Barrel Room is the BAD SONS private event space. It’s to the left of the public brewery area when you face the main entrance. Conveniently, you and your guests will have your own entrance/exit here. It’s more of a wedding reception or party space.
At over 3000 square feet, tt’s a good-sized rectangular room, complete with its own bar and bathrooms. There’s room just outside for your food truck caterer to pull up and serve.
By the way, the brew area is situated in between the Barrel Room and Tasting Room. As long as you have permission, the staff may escort you here to take photos.
Outside the Brewery
I’m a wedding photographer and have fun making interesting photographs out of seemingly normal locations.
Therefore, the outdoor grounds of BADSONS are really appealing to me. It’s an industrial area with plenty of brick.
Other Photo Locations Near BADSONS Beer Company
As you plan your wedding at BAD SONS Beer Company, keep logistics in mind. Depending on your plans, the following Lower Naugatuck Valley photography locations may be of interest:
Also, New Haven is about 30 minutes away (again, depending on your wedding day timeline).
BADSONS Brewery Wedding Pricing
Here’s some pricing info for Barrel Room weddings at BAD SONS Beer Company:
- A base rental fee of just over $2000 for all-day access (12 PM to 11 PM) or just under $1000 for a three-hour rental
- One or two beer servers at the bar, including open bar or prepaid options for beverages
- Usage of about 20 tables and benches
BADSONS is an affordable CT wedding venue, ideal for you if you’re looking for a blank slate. Again, the one thing that BAD SONS doesn’t provide is food service. Fortunately, I have a CT food truck guide that may help.
A BADSONS Beer Company Wedding Celebration
After privately tying the knot, Danny and Chris contacted me about photographing their celebration event for their wedding at BADSONS Beer Co.
You’ll notice in the photos throughout this post that they had a great, casual wedding celebration. Laid-back weddings like this are awesome, proving that getting married doesn’t have to be stressful.
Their caterer was EST Pizza Truck. Beer was by BAD SONS, of course!
