Lots of Venue Choices
The first reason to consider getting married in Hartford is that there are plenty of venue choices. Both in and around the city, you have options.
Central Location
Geographically, Hartford CT is a great place for a wedding because of its central location. It’s an easy drive from NYC, Providence, Boston, and beyond. Conveniently, two major highways (84 and 91) intersect in Hartford.
Tons of Things to Do
Lastly, there are a ton of things to do in and around Harford. This helps with important wedding planning aspects like family gatherings (e.g., rehearsal dinners) and guest accommodations. This helps round out the reasons that it’s the perfect southern New England wedding location.
The Best Hartford Wedding Venues
To start, here are some of the best Hartford wedding venues located in the city itself:
1. The Society Room of Hartford

Located in regal downtown Hartford, The Society Room of Hartford is a former bank with 3000 square feet of elegance to prove it. From the getting ready suites to the main ballroom to the outdoor convenience of Pratt Street, this indoor venue is perfect for those looking for city wedding venue vibes.
2. The Hartford Club

A former hangout of Mark Twain’s, The Hartford Club is a mansion wedding venue located downtown on Prospect Street. Like The Society Room, you’ll get great opportunities for city portraits and have some old school feels as far as décor. Service here is great, too.
3. Hartford City Hall

For both elopements and full-blown weddings alike, Hartford City Hall features some of our state’s best architecture. Both your ceremony and reception can take place here (but no alcohol is allowed).
4. The Goodwin

A really nice boutique hotel, The Goodwin is an excellent place to get some rooms if you’re getting ready for your wedding in downtown Hartford. But, this location is also a wedding venue, boasting two indoor options for your day.
5. Pond House Café

A staple of the Hartford region, West Hartford’s Pond House Café is on the same property as the city’s famous Elizabeth Park. This venue can host an outdoor ceremony in the enclosed patio and then a fun reception indoors.
6. Elizabeth Park

Perfect for an elopement in the gardens or as a portrait location during your wedding day, Elizabeth Park is a beautiful wedding backdrop. Keep in mind that a permit is required for professional photography in the park, so you’ll want to factor that into your wedding planning for sure.
7. Trinity College

Particularly if one or both of you are alumni, Trinity College is a unique Hartford wedding venue to consider. This institution of higher learning has enough space to host events of up to 500 people.

Wedding Venues Near Hartford
Greater Hartford is one of our state’s most industrious areas. Therefore, there are tons of great places to get married near (but not in) the capital city, too. Here are some ideas for wedding venues near Hartford:
1. The Barns at Wesleyan Hills (Middletown, CT)

Maybe the epitome of the elegant barn wedding venue, The Barns at Wesleyan Hills is a trip (that means it’s really, really good). Located in Middletown, there’s a sizeable landscape with willow trees and a small pond to take advantage of. Perhaps the main attraction of this venue, however, is the idea of partying the night away in front of the Big Barn’s Edison light wall.
